Went to law school (Spokane Community College & Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA), after graduation he applied for an Idaho Private Investigators and Security Agency license in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho and opened his office in 2005, along with a Judgement recovery service. Since 2005, NW Judgement Recovery services has assisted hundreds of businesses and individuals to recover judgements owned to them. Both companies are locally and veteran owned.

The owner Steven DeGon is a native Idahoan and grew up in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He attended Borah Elementary, Lakes Jr. High School and Coeur d’ Alene Sr. High School. Enlisted in the Army in 1982 and retired in 2005. He has served in two different theaters in the middle east and abroad throughout the world. Growing up he studied martial arts home and abroad while in the Army and has earned multiple black belts in various styles of the arts. He was inducted in the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2014 and 2015. In 2025 he was inducted into the American Martials Arts Association of WHO’s Who in Martial Arts.
